ABOUT

Hello, I'm Alma Sophia, and my journey in the realm of jewellery began in the breathtaking landscapes of Norway. Today, I am proud to be a part of the UK jewellery industry, renowned for my sculptural designs, minimalist aesthetic, and meticulous craftswomanship. Nestled in London, in my Bloomsbury workshop, I pour my passion into each piece.

Alma Sophia's Curated Collections - Explore Wearable Works of Art

From a young age, my passion for jewellery & craftsmanship has been deeply rooted. I found myself magpie-like, drawn to hidden treasures everywhere; on the sea-floor, in flea markets, and in my grandmother’s dresser, as I secretly adorned myself with her jewellery. This instilled in me a deep respect for these radiant treasures and a curiosity about their intricate artistry.

Alma Sophia's Journey - The Beginning of a Jewellery Artisan

At Plus Skolen in Fredrikstad, Norway, I became a goldsmith, earning my journeymen's certificate. Knowing how to respect materials, emphasise detail, and practice patience became the cornerstones of my craft.

Wanting to broaden my design knowledge, I spent two transformative years at University for the Creative Arts, Rochester. This refined my design skills and laid the groundwork for my square collection

Alma Sophia's Bloomsbury Workshop - Crafting Unique Square Collection

After graduating, I moved to London, where I create my jewellery from my studio at Cockpit Arts in Bloomsbury. Sculptural form is central to my design and I often work with square tubes, which have become my signature. The squares are combined in various ways, and the repetitive forms create new wholes. Due to the handmade process, the shapes take on an organic quality, so no form is exactly alike.

I hope you find a piece in my collection you will treasure. You can always book a studio visit for an informal chat or explore my curated collections in the online shop. Each piece tells a story, embodying my passion for the craft of jewellery-making.
